Obamica - The Apocalypse starts in America- Land of the Protected, Home of the Entitled - The Beginning of the End.

Chapter one in the ongoing fictional account of America's decent into Hell under the current administration.

It’s so dark here, underground. The only light is the glow from this machine I can’t seem to tear myself away from. The silence is all that exists but for the soft hum of my dear computer which has become my eyes and ears, my lifeline. I wonder if it is what is keeping me sane. I reach for the cold coffee at my side out of habit, a rote, autonomic gesture. The jet fuel sludge is the only thing keeping me up other than sheer terror. I have lost track of how many days it has been. Do I even remember what sleep is?

It’s been about six or seven weeks since the world went to hell. It started in October 2012. War was declared on Iran. The President was lauded as our savior when he somehow managed to detect and destroy the nuclear missiles that had been fired on what was then called America while they were still over the ocean. He was immediately named our savior. Within days the country was renamed Obamica. He was declared Emperor by Congress, a title and position granted for life. Martial law was declared that night to ensure the ongoing safety of our nation. Millions of what used to be Americans wept in gratitude. Others wept for the death of a once great nation while they hid in their homes. Almost in the blink of an eye things changed.

The next week the Emperor declared all people in Obamica must receive a bar code for their own safety. Money in a tangible form would no longer be needed. The bar code would ensure no one was robbed or mugged and make our nation safe from within while he continued to make us safe from enemies abroad. The people were graciously given thirty days. The bar code would be given freely to everyone at any local bank, police station, hospital or school. All locally approved sites were quickly overrun as people in droves lined up smiling to get the stamp of safety. Processing centers began to open up in every city and town using abandoned buildings. They were staffed by men in long black robes. At the end of the thirty day grace period cash would be outlawed. Anyone after that time who did not display the bar code upon request would be immediately taken into police custody. Upon being taken, said persons had 24 hours to decide to accept the gift of safety or be executed as an enemy of peace.

America had been known as the land of the free, the home of the brave. Now, it was declared to be the land of the protected, for he would protect us all. It was the home of the entitled, for we were all entitled to his protection, if we were loyal.

My hand is trembling as I move the mouse to click the link. Every second or so my mind sends up another desperate plea to God to please bring him back alive. I tell myself to stop. God knows what I want, how scared I am. God will follow his plan as is right but I’m still terrified. The ongoing mantra of "just have faith" is not helping, though I know I should. This underground bunker that we thought might offer some protection now feels like my coffin slowly shrinking in on me. I try to shake off the crazy and focus. What else is there for me to do?

Over half of Texas was virtually wiped off the face of the map today. Since our Emperor and sovereign leader gave us martial law to protect us all, there have been uprisings and violence in every major city across Obamica. Things have gotten worse. Factions of terrorist and religious fanatics continue to wage guerrilla warfare through any means they can contrive. Our beloved Emperor promised we, the people, that he will restore law and order. Today marked the spearhead into the heart of the uprising against peace. Together we stand. Praise be to our savior, the Emperor.

My stomach turns. Not being able to read anymore I hit a new tab and go to Hubpages. Somehow, the remaining living members of the Hubteam have managed to keep it going. Most of the old Hubs remain. The new ones are slim compared to what once was found daily. There are no new hubs in the Politics and Social Issues headings that do not support the Emperor. I don’t know how they are doing it, but the Hubteam are uploading daily a new series entitled simply “The Butcher’s Bill”. I can’t help but smile sadly seeing they give credit to the original author of the phrase and even mention it was used in the movie the “And The Band Played On.” In the face of the apocalypse someone is still concerned about the rules. A manic giggle escapes my lips and I shudder recognizing the sound of madness coming from myself.

Dear hubbers,

If you have not heard, Texas is toast. We lost the following today. This list includes the ones we know of. Who knows how many more of our family are gone? As you know, we get some of our information from the sketchy news being released from the capitol through the only remaining news network, BHO Network News, but we continue to rely on your communications for the bulk of our information.

Wayne was a truly talented, loyal, American who fought for his country in Vietnam. He was killed today by the forces of the Emperor. He had been identified on the FBI’s most wanted list as an “instigator of unrest.” When Protection troopers went through Texas today burning everything in their path, a special unit was dispatched to take him alive at all cost. The Emperor issued a decree that all “instigators of unrest” in Texas be rounded up for public execution yesterday.

Wayne Brown must have seen them coming. As the troopers advanced upon his ranch home explosions rocked the earth killing 35 troopers and injuring 17. After the third explosion a missile was dropped on his home killing him and his family.

Wayne wrote vivid poems, and indepth, to the point political and social commentaries. He exemplified the best of what HubPages has to offer.

Wayne will be sorely missed. His words will live on as long as we can keep the site up. We love you, Wayne.

Todd was one of our most beloved conspiracy theorist that spoke out not only against the government but also alerted us to the deeds of large corporations. His ongoing expose articles on Monsanto’s monopoly and corruption of the food supply are legendary. Todd was on the list of “instigators of unrest” but BHO news reported this afternoon that he was found already deceased when storm troopers entered his modest Texas home. The report stated his father was shot for trying to hold onto the body. The entire property was seen aflame on the report.

Todd was known for his dedication to revealing the truth to us all, for being a champion of the common man and for always standing up for what he believed in.

Todd, we will miss you. Your words will live on as long as we can keep the site up. We love you, Todd.

Dear, sweet, Kimberly died today on the front lawn of her native TX home. Protection troopers surrounded her. It was reported they were there to escort her to a processing center to receive the mandatory barcode we are all required to have. The brief video clip showed her look up to the sky and smile as she mouthed the words “I‘m coming home, Father.” She fell gracefully to the ground. The report stated she passed of an acute myocardium infarction. She looked so peaceful.

Kimberly was the recipient of a Hub Nugget award and was a published poet. She was a creative, kind soul who we were blessed to have known.

Her spirit will live on as long as we can keep her words here. She will be missed. We love you, Kimberly.

Poetvix was an amateur poet. She wrote a few controversial hubs on politically correct ideology but was most known here for her graphic epic poems.

Protection troopers surrounded her Texas home today. As they were approaching from all sides a massive explosion destroyed her home leaving the surrounding countryside barren for fifty feet in every direction. The BHO News Network stated, “No bodies were recovered but both she and her husband are assumed dead.” The report went on to label them both “...cowards who would rather take their own lives than allow Obamica justice through their public executions. Their combined selfish acts cost the lives of two Protection Troopers who were fatally wounded from flying debris.”

Poetvix will be missed by her small following. Her words will remain as long as we can keep the site up. We love you, Poetvix.

Jim was a hubber possessing intelligence, range and wit. His political Hubs were scathing and well documented. His series of zombie hubs were dearly loved by many of us. He was a loyal countryman who served America with valor and distinction.

The BHO News Network showed a brief clip of him facing off over ten Protection Troopers in Austin this morning as he and a small band of men and women attempted to infiltrate the state capitol. He was fatally shot in the back. He was the last of the “instigator band” at that time. The entire incident lasted just under twenty minutes. Four troopers were killed and two wounded.

Jim will be missed. His words and his spirit will live on as long as we can keep going. We love you, Jim.

I can’t read anymore. I should be crying. I should be mourning for all the people lost, the good people. I can’t. Mourning and tears are just not there. The only thing in me is terror he won’t make it. I see him in my mind and try to envision a white light protecting him. I try so hard I think my head will split but all I can see is some damn trooper shooting him. I know they won’t take him alive. He would never allow that.

Even underground I can hear the jets screeching overhead. I can smell the stench of the burning bodies. I know I must be imagining that. There’s no way the smell from the city could reach this far and underground. Could it? God please, please bring him back to me.

Maybe some of them made it. A tiny flicker of hope dares to spark in my heart. If we could fake our deaths maybe they could too. Maybe Wayne and his family somehow got out before the bomb fell. He was smart. He knew how to fight. He had been in a war. Dare I hope the news was wrong? After all, everything they say is deception.

I quickly type the URL into the field and wait for the network feed to load. Over and over I watch the gruesome scene. “No bodies were recovered.” He could have made it! He could!

Where is that man? Oh God please bring him back to me. Please! He’s a day late. He’s always late, damn him! Oh God, you know I don’t mean that. I’m sorry. Please watch over him.

The next clip automatically loads. The date indicates it's a few weeks old, but I have not seen it before. Somehow the scene unfolding on the screen pulls me out of myself. I soon wish it had not. I see a classroom with about fifty small children, quietly sitting. Small children, quiet and still. The teacher in me kicks in and I wonder what the hell is wrong with them? What are they so afraid of? Children that age are never all quiet and still at the same time unless something major has their attention.

The Czar of the Department of Education stands before them. He smiles upon them and congratulates them on being the first in their state to receive the mandatory barcode now embedded in their right hands.

I can’t breathe. There’s no air. I know what they don’t. They are lost. My mind seizes on the same old question. How could this have happened? In just weeks the world has gone to hell.

"Children, God, children!" I scream aloud. Now the tears come.

Oh, dear God, please, please bring him home.

Please do not take offense. I love your work and think of you all as online friends. I mean no disrespect or harm. This is just fiction and you have become characters. If you are offended, I will remove your name. Just let me know in comments or email. Again, I value you all greatly and want nothing but God’s blessing for you.

This does not do that. This allows for the silencing of us all at anytime. Anyone can suspect anything. That does not make what is suspect true. For that matter, is it such a strecth to think they can, and will "suspect" anyone that speaks out against anything they do?

This can not be allowed to stand. NDAA gives absolute power by law. It gives authority to what is inherently wrong. I urge you, in the strongest manner possible, for the sake of yourselves and anyone you care about, flood the hill with petitions, calls, letters, emails, calls for FREEDOM.

America must be protected at all costs. NDAA does not do that. It shreds the last remaining vestiges of liberty. It makes a mockery of the Constitution. It makes us no more than slaves chained by fear. If we, if you, don't speak up NOW, your children will never be able to as adults... If they live that long.
