Vix’s Top Ten Good Looking Famous Men - Dead or Alive
83What's hot and what's not.
Welcome to the top ten good looking famous men. They are wanted, dead or alive!
Let me begin by stating that this is my personal opinion. I have taken into account zero tabloid lists, Hollywood groupings, or any other possibly relevant sources. This is pure what looks good to Vix and I don’t expect everyone to agree. You will notice a total lack of blond men. That is not to be intolerant or prejudice against blonds in any way. I just prefer the darker haired variety of that gorgeous animal known as man.
10) John Travolta
I first saw him in Grease as a child. My aunt took my cousin and I to the movie and I can remember we stood in line way outside the building just to get in. It was more crowded than I had ever seen it. Some people remained standing the entire time. I was in love at the young age of 11 or so. He made a few more movies in the day such as “Urban Cowboy” but was shot to teen heart-throb stardom when he took the role of Vinny Barbarino on “Welcome Back Kotter.” Time went by and he dropped off the radar for a while. Boy and how did he explode in his come back role in the cult classic “Pulp Fiction.” I was much older by then, as was he, but he was still gorgeous. His bad guy character in the movie was totally lovable though scandalous. His real life has been wrought with hardship, struggle and tragedy. He lost his child a few years back. My heart goes out to him. God bless you, John. No offense is intended by that. He is a devout member of the church of Scientology from all reports.
9.) Burt Reynolds
In his day, this man was the heartthrob of American women and girls throughout the land. He is best known for his role in “Smokey and the Bandit.” He was also totally loved for his role in other movies such as “The Longest Yard” and “Gator.” I believe the role that made him, however, was his co-staring role in “Deliverance.” That movie was and still is chilling. Burt, in his many roles, was always handsome, always witty, and personified what is best in the American male while remaining human and less than perfect. I think that is part of why so many of us love him so much. Even today, he is still acting. His role in “Boogie Nights” was a new kind for him but he played it well. He was the bad guy in some ways but still managed to pull it off with style and grace.
8.) Taylor Lautner
OK, I’m pretty sure everyone knows who this guy is, but in case you don’t, he played Jacob in the "Twilight" movies. Ladies, sadly here we have one that is just too young. Man, is he hot though! Taylor is also not your typical Hollywood brat. He has a black belt, is active in helping America’s youth, and is just an all around good guy. Go team Jacob!
Even if I were blind he would be fine. That voice!
7.) Sam Elliot
I have to mention when speaking of Sam in a male hunk sort of way, personally, I think it only applies as he aged. I liked him after he went gray. Ladies, why is it some men just get hotter? I will never understand, but it is true.
Now, Sam has been in a ton of movies through the last few decades. I liked him best in "Road House" but also was endeared to his character in “The Golden Compass.” He has a wide range. Many a western has benefited from his participation. Not only does he have the rugged good looks, but his voice is smooth as silk in a rough, manly way.
In every movie I have ever had the privilege of seeing Sam in, he always plays the good guy. I have to love that. Usually there are some fight scenes thrown in to boot. He throws a punch like a real cowboy and he can take one. What's not to love? OK, OK, I know. It's all in the script. Isn't that part of the fun of watching, though? Getting lost in the character, actually believing, if only for a short while, is what makes movies great. Sam has always been that for me.
6.) Steven Strait
This young hottie is best known for his work in three, count them three, movies. The one I liked best was "10,000 BC" though the critics trashed it. OK, so he was not Shakespearean in his acting but he was a strong character that grew which would be exactly what was needed in the plot and setting. Further criticism of the movie revolved around the mix of animals from different periods in time. To me, this did not interfere with the story and nothing could interfere with how fine this guy is. He’s too young, but still way fine. He also starred in "Coven" and "Sky High."
5.) Manu Bennett
This hunk of a man is also relatively new to fame and sweat dripping glory. He is best known for his role as Crixus in the Starz original series “Spartacus - Blood and Sand“, "Spartacus -Gods of the Arena“ and "Spartacus - Vengeance.” His character is more than a bit hard headed. He is one who keeps honor at the forefront of his thoughts. It is surpassed only by his devotion to the love of his life, Naevia. He is not what one would call a warm fuzzy but is rather a pit bull on steroids.
His unwavering dedication, hard work, and pursuit of excellence has adored him to the hearts of many a fan be they male or female. Anxious fans eagerly await his next deeds of courage and undoubtedly stubborn fits of determination as he pursues what was torn from him. Be sure to tune in for season three!
Oo La La! It's a shame he did not win.
4.) Jason Momoa
This guy is relatively new to the Hollywood scene. He is best known for his roles in the HBO series “Game of Thrones” and the newly revised version of the eighties movie “Conan the Barbarian“. Pure eye candy describes him well. That is not to insult his acting abilities, but seriously, it’s hard to listen when he looks so fine.
All kidding aside, his character on “Game of Thrones“, while starting as someone I disliked greatly, evolved and earned my admiration when he displayed courage, wit, and an undying loyalty to his bride while never budging off his “I’m all that” leadership with an iron fist attitude. I give him some leeway considering it was expected by the time and culture.
All in all, this man is too fine to do anything but be a raging success in film. I have to wonder if he was born with those shoulders. What workout program does he follow? Whatever it is, men, check it out!
3.) Clark Gable
Can we all just swoon? This man was handsome personified. He was smooth, dashing, debonair and the epitome of all things masculine for the time. I think he is best known for his role in Magaret Mitchell’s timeless classic “Gone with the wind.”
He co-starred with Vivean Leigh and Olivia de Havilland. I refuse to include the man who played Ashely Wilkes. He may have been a great actor and the like but I never cared for his character. He distracted Scarlet from the oh so delectable Rhett. What was that woman thinking? I am not a fan of romance novels. This was the first one I ever read. Nothing of the genre ever came close to it. Perhaps that’s why I’m not a fan, typically. You can’t beat the best.
I know critics trashed it royally, but I really liked how Rhett and Scarlet hooked back up in the sequel. She grew up and he got over himself, somewhat. Ah, it makes one think true love will find a way.
2.) Rock Hudson
Well, what was he not known for? While at the end of life there was some controversy regarding his sexual preference, which really should not be anyone’s business but his own, he was still ten kinds of fine. And the voice was most yummy. I liked him best in the movie “Giant“. His co-stars were James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor. Can you say five star? The movie was and still is a classic. While his character’s stubborn attitude and chauvinistic views were not endearing to me personally, they did typify what a rugged American, successful male of that time was thought to be like.
1.) Kevin Smith
Kevin became known when he played Aries God of War on “Xena - Warrior Princess.“ OK, I know some of you are saying… Cheese! Maybe so, but I loved the campy humor and root for the underdog theme. I too could have lived without the war cry.
Regardless, this man was drop dead gorgeous and I mean in a drool worthy kind of way. The leather outfits he typically displayed so well didn't hurt. His character was full of human foibles such as exceeding pride, arrogance, hubris, a sneaky nature, deceptiveness, manipulation and the list just goes on. None of it mattered. In the end, he came through, though it often took a good amount of prodding.
I guess it has been shown I like a specific type. It would best be termed, I suppose, as rugged and uncompromising with a heart that few see. Tall, dark and dashing is the motto. I don’t go in for the metro sexual, cultured or refined very much, but rather vastly prefer a man’s man. I think my fellow hubber Tammy Swallow would agree. Check out her hub “Give Me a Cowboy Any Day- Why Today's Metrosexual Male is Unattractive to Women." I like someone who is real, rough around the edges, and stands for what he believes in. To me, personality is every bit as important as looks hence not including Sean Connery. If that doesn't make sense to you, check out his views on women. He is fine, but he loses major points every time he opens his mouth.
In conclusion...
For all of you younger ladies out there, I would like to point out one time tested fact. Looks are not everything. That young man that treats you like a queen, never lies, works hard and you can trust with your life may not look that good now. Men grow into their looks. Looks fade. Character lasts a lifetime.
Now, in all seriousness, this is just to say it’s what I like in theory, as in to see on the tube. I am married to a beautiful, wonderful man who is in real life everything I like. He is my best friend. I would not trade him for ten of any man listed above. I hope God will bless all of you ladies with the love of your life for the rest of your life as well.
Looks, personality, honesty, a sense of humor...

I was happy to see Sam Elliot on this list...he will be sexy and goodlooking when he's 103. :-)
I thought that answering your question with "the eyes are the window to the soul" would not be the most popular, but it is. I saw an older film the other day, "Presumed Innocent." There was an actor who played a defense attorney, Sandy, who defended Harrison Ford's character falsely accused of murdering a woman with whom he had an affair. My heart stopped when I watched this actor...such mesmerizing eyes. It was Raul Julia (RIP).
Very nice hub, and a very nice way to start my day. Thank you! :-)
Very inspiring hub. I wish I could be the man like them. I believe that many women adore them as an actor. I must admit to you, my favorite are John Travolta and Burt Reynolds. I do agree with you that "Looks are not everything". I am proud with me. Rated up and have a nice weekend!
Prasetio
Interesting list. I find Steven Strait smart! I like other raven-haired hunks such as Hugh Jackman, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Hugh Darcy! Vote up.
What the hey? I didn't even make the top 10? oh, that's right, you didn't even know me when you wrote this. Okay, I'm better now.
I grew my mustache and trimmed it just like Burt Reynolds, trying to look like him once. Only problem is that some women have thicker mustaches than me, and minds, blonde. (wasn't much of a look alike)
Sam Elliott is a stud. I almost had to get drunk when those a-holes, beat him to a pulp in Roadhouse. Him and Cher made a cool couple I thought. Did I ever tell you about me and Cher? I'll send you a link. (laughing)
jim
...hold on hold on you mean THE MAN WITH NO PANTS aka the Fabulous Jim Brown is not on this list - lol - and we all know about epi - he couldn't get a date with a bitch in a dog pound on a Saturday night - lol - must post another classic hub by you Rhonda to my Facebook page - mainly because I want women out there to vote for Jim - in or out of his pants - this dude is the real deal! (and so is this hub)
lake erie time 3:55am
Colin,
What's happening my dear friend! Quit with that dog pound thing. You've got that one-of-a-kind Disneyland, mind, and a romantic side that I could never compete with dude. If you're not getting laid, you're spending too much time at the cottage. Get your butt down to a good jazz club, layout the poetry, and see what happens!
Rhonda,
I noticed that there is a bit of an echo in the fan club room, and it gets louder every year. lol Glad to see you are a fellow Sam fan. he's one of those rare guys like Clint Eastwood in a way. When they do a movie, they don't have to act, they just show up and be themselves. I'll get you that link. It's one of my first hubs. It's a true story that I didn't think was very funny at the time, but looking back, I guess it's pretty humorous.
Jim
Eyes draw me in, but personality seals the deal. I think a good looking guy is great but if his personality stinks, it's a wash. I'd rather be with someone who isn't a GQ model but knows how to treat me. Great list, by the way.
Rhonda,
Do you know thoughtsandwiches (thomas)?
Rhonda,
His name's Thomas. He's a bud of mine and a hell of a writer. He's a leftie, but I dig the guy. You two are my favorite writers and I want to introduce you to each other. :)
jim
Oh my goodness, Rhonda, we have exactly the same taste. Jason Momoa... oh, I can't even breathe while watching him on a TV-screen, so what will happen to me when I see him in real life? Lol! And what about Sean Connery? My heart belongs to him :)
Voted up and awesome!
And of course I agree with Alecia Murphy.
Would you believe my computer self combusted after reading this?! seriously, I drooled, and my computer when up the swanney without a paddle as my dad would say! lol! took me half an hour to get it back! don't tell me that computers are not interacting with their writers! haha! seriouslly, Sparta ccccuuus oooh! but conan, oh my goodness me! I must have drooled all the way through the film, don't ask me what it was about! haha! I only love dark hair and dark looks too, some blonds are okay, but nothing like a tall dark handsome man! I would like to add Adrian Paul, Highlander, as he is my ultimate hunk, and of course damien from Vampire diaries too! I remember going to the cinema with my friend and her boyfriend back when John Travolta appeared as Billy in Carrie, we sat down eating our popcorn, and John came on in his first scene. The cinema went quiet and everyone turned around! it turned out that my friends boyfriend was his double! haha! talk about grab your man and hold on tight! couldn't stop laughing for a week! great hub, thanks for the smile!
Just for the record I did not vote in your poll; there are some things a friend will not do. :) A whole lot of hunka hunka love in this Hub and of course it has met your lofty standards.
I go straight for Steven Strait :)
haha graet hub! i just wrote one on the top men in hollywood that get sexier with age and yours popped up beside it. You know sam elliott is on there lol. you should take a look and see if you agree.
This is a hot list without the typical cookie cutter listings. I have always had a thing for Sam Elliot and it isn't just his voice. I have always been on team Jacob and I wish for big things from Taylor Lautner. Great list and lots of fun.
numbers 6 and 4 are hot and so is 'in conclusion' ;) lol
I voted tall dark and handsome :) this hub is hot and comments from other hubbers are funny ^^
Can I just say that even though I'm a married woman, I'm still DROOLING over these guys? Wow! Thanks for sharing! Voted up, interesting and shared.
Hi Poetvix: Yes, looking is still okay :). Happy Hubbing to you as well my friend :).
:) You are very welcome!
I was just checking in to see if you had written anything of late. I hadn't received any notices saying you had; hope things are alright with you! I miss that wit and charm!

Yes, Poetvix, I did vote, but I voted in the sense of what I see first in a woman. If there's nothing in the eyes there is nothing. I didn't read everything because of time. It's late and still have about 25 pages to edit (for the 12th or 13th time; I don't remember) on my latest novel. Hoping to push it to Createspace.com tomorrow, finally. I liked several of your men but also didn't recognize some. I always liked Rock Hudson, and when I finally heard about his "preference" that kind of upset me, but I didn't stop liking him. I like John Travolta and Burt Reynolds too. Can you believe it, I've never seen Clark Gable in a movie. At the end I really appreciated what you said about your own real life man. Good for you, and thanks for a great hub!
I like your car too! Oh, I like Sam Elliot too!
